Un Live CD è un CDROM autoavviante che contiene l’intero sistema operativo. Quando si avvia il computer con questo CDROM inserito, partirà il suo contenuto. Nel nostro caso, il Live CD Knoppix DVDROM contiene il sistema operativo completo che comprende Gcompris. Quando il sistema avrà terminato l’avvio, selezionate Gcompris nel manu Start ed iniziate ad usarlo.

Tutto ciò significa che con questo CDROM, potete felicemnte utilizzare la versione completa di Gcompris per Linux, senza la necessità di installare GNU/Linux sul disco fisso. Inoltre, questo CD/DVDROM può essere usato anche se non c’è il disco fisso, se manca il sistema operativo oppure se è danneggiato, è sufficiente un lettore CD/DVD e il computer che supporta l’avvio da questa periferica.

Nota: Nel caso in cui il vostro computer non possa avviarsi da CD/DVD, controllate la configurazione del BIOS nella sezione Sequenza di Avvio/Boot Sequence, per impostare l’avvio da CD/DVD prima del disco fisso. Di solito si accede al menu BIOS premendo il tasto ’Del’, durante l’avvio del computer. In altri PC, può essere necessario il tasto F2 o F10. A Live CD is a bootable CDROM that contains a full operating system. When your start your computer with this CDROM inserted, it will start it’s content. In our case, the the Knoppix DVDROM contains a complete operating system including GCompris. When you start it, just pick GCompris in the start menu and your done.

All it means is that with this CDROM, you can enjoy the full Linux version of GCompris without installing GNU/Linux. More, this DVDROM can be used even if there is no hard drive, no operating system, or a defective operating system in your PC.

Note: In case your computer does not boot on the DVDROM, check the BIOS is configured to boot on the DVDROM before booting on the hard drive.
